                                                                Alex Ibru dies at 66

Founder and Publisher of  The Guardian Newspaper and former Minister of Internal Affairs,Dr.Alexander Uruemu Ibru yesterday passed away at about 1300hrs after a prolonged illness.

On the 2nd of February 1996 he survived an assassination attempt on his life when his car was sprayed with bullets from the machine guns of unidentified men.He and his friend who was also in the car with him were flown to England for treatment of the injuries they sustained.

Burial arrangements would be announced soon by his family.

Country-pop sensation Taylor Swift last night took home the biggest awards at the American Music Award.
The 21yr old singer took home the 'Artist Of The Year' which was the biggest award,'Favorite Country Music Album' for her Speak Now  album and also,'Favorite Country Female Artist' for the forth year in a row.

 Other big winners include Nicki Minaj who took home two awards for 'Favorite Artist' and 'Favorite Album' for her Pink Friday album.

Pop singer Jennifer Lopez Stole the show when she performed her latest single 'papi' in a rhinesone body suit.She was later joined by Latino rapper Pitbull who was featured in her chart-topping single 'On The Floor'.She picked up the award for 'The Favorite Latin Music Artist'.

Other performances include Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera,Gym Class Heroes,Katy Perry,Ludacris,Justin Beiber,Chris Brown,Nicki Minaj and Enrique Iglesias.

Some award recipients who were absent include Rihanna,Adele and Beyonce,who won 'Favorite Soul/R&B Album','Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist' and 'Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist' respectively.
